Japanese antique tetsubin, cast iron kettle for heating water for tea. Oval form with high handle. One side is decorated with a raised banana palm. The unique split cast handle adds interest. The bronze lid is signed on the underside.

An large Japanese bronze Buddhist temple bell called Bonsho with a carrying handle in the form of dragon heads called Ryuzu. The upper protrusions called Chi or Nyu improves the resonance of the sound when struck. Two opposing striking panels called Tsuki-za is the point on the bell where the best and longest sound is achieved. A bell of this size was hung in a neighborhood temple to summon the monks to prayer.

An antique Japanese bronze cloisonne male Fu Dog lying on its back and balancing a sphere while its playful pup tries to keep its balance. The Fu Dog is a protector of the Buddhist faith and the male is responsible for protecting the earth symbolized by the sphere. Beautiful casting and artist rendition.

An antique Japanese large bronze hibachi (brazier) featuring many mythical creatures. The main image in relief on both sides are Baku or dream eaters standing nearby old pine trees. A pair of large antique bronze vases used for large Ikebana flower arrangements or Japanese entryway vessels. The base of each vase depicts an underwater scene of swimming Koi (carp) and bamboo growing out of the water. The base incorporates the stems of the lotus leaves hugging the neck and opening to the top scalloped rim.

Very rare monumental antique Japanese pair of solid temple support carvings made entirely from two solid blocks of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. Deep relief carving on both sides depict 10 playful squirrels finding a cozy shelter amongst the grapes and grapevines (Japanese Budo). It would make a great architectural design incorporated into a building in any of the the wine vineyards.
