Japanese Antique Tanuki with Bell
Japanese antique carved boxwood figure of Soko-tanuki. Here he is disguised as a monk with a large temple bell. The story goes that a tanuki (who is famous for his shapeshifting abilities) worked in the temple for many years. One day while he was taking a nap, he was caught in his original form. But the kind monks allowed him to stay and continue his hard work as a page in the temple.

A pair of hinged doors open to a set of Kimono and accoutrement drawers. Hardened wooden nail construction. Optional iron stand can be added for additional height.

An antique Japanese Tansu chest called a Gyosho Bako (peddler's chest) made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware. Two pairs of rings on each side used to rope the Tansu to carry on ones back for peddling wares from town to town. The front hinged door secures 7 drawers used for inventory storage.

The lowe rsectino has 2 sliding doors with 4 large drawers and a hinged security door that protects three small drawers.

Sliding and hinged doors open to spacious cabinets with drawers used for additional space. Fine filigree work depicting Chrysanthemums among an arabesque pattern.
